Behind the Good Health, Better World podcast

Experts come together for a podcast to empower women on their health journey

By Staff

Over nine episodes, this season of Good Health Better World delves into challenges and opportunities in women’s health – while looking to the future, to new frontiers in research.

So much depends on women staying healthy, but that journey can be complicated, as vast disparities exist based on factors such as where a woman lives and her education. Join us behind the scenes of this season, with host Dr. Ellen Beckjord, MPH. Dr. Hyagriv Simhan discusses solutions for safer reproductive health care, particularly with women who may be at a higher risk for complications, in Episode 2

Dr. Johanna Vidal-Phelan, a pediatrician, discusses the community created as one becomes a parent, in Episode 4, bringing both professional expertise and her experience as a mother of two boys.

LaJuana Fuller of UPMC Magee Women’s Hospital is passionate about education and screening for breast cancer. She champions mobile screenings for mammograms  – an approach that ultimately gets more women screened who otherwise might miss a life-saving opportunity. Hear more from LaJuana in Episode 8, where she discusses disparities in diagnosing and treating breast cancer.
