Former Army General and cattle rancher Shawn Harris discussed with Postindustrial the upcoming special election to fill the seat vacated by Greene and what he’d do on his first day in Washington.

The Shawn Harris campaign is in overdrive ahead of the special election on March 10, with early voting starting Feb. 16.
Though Harris lost to Greene in 2024, he expressed confidence in his ability to win the deep-red Northwest Georgia district Greene held for five years until her resignation earlier this month.
“This district has changed a lot in recent years … people who voted for Donald Trump last time, and Marjorie Taylor Greene realize they were lied to,” said Harris.
“They will elect a Democrat because they are tired of being left behind.”
Were he to win, Harris said his first-day priorities would include making life more affordable for Americans and addressing the needs of the nation’s veterans and farmers.
Harris also discussed the importance of NATO, which has been the repeated subject of Trump’s scorn.
“Without NATO, the United States cannot be the most powerful country around the world,” he said.
