Pittsburgh-area artist Mary Mazziotti is at it again with another collection of provocative, political work drawing attention to the threat of creeping authoritarianism.

When Trump was first elected, I was prompted to make a body of hand-embroidery work called “Needling the Regime”.
Many of the pieces in this exhibit combine propaganda images from World War I and II with text from Trump and his followers.
It’s disturbing how closely they align with the outright fascism of that period.
Now in Trump’s second term, this Regime is less concerned about hiding positions and statements from their ranks that are clearly antisemitic, anti-Islamic, misogynistic, and racist.
So get ready for the new diktats…
“A Public Service Announcement from the Regime” makes it official.
“Thank You for Your Attention to This Matter,” as Trump signs off many of his Truth Social posts, lets you know HE’S watching.

Mary Mazziotti’s new show, “Thank You for Your Attention to This Matter: Social & Political Observations of the Regime,” is open at the BE Galleries in Pittsburgh’s Lawrenceville neighborhood. Visit https://begalleriespgh.com/ for more details.
