Public art is among our favorite forms of expression in Postindustrial Communities. Pittsburgh-area creator Randi Stewart is one of the best when it comes to reappropriating spaces for her vision.

Since 2017, public art has been muralist and mixed media fine artist Randi Stewart’s passion and reason. Her most recent creation is a tribute to a favorite children’s movie on an exterior wall of an arthouse cinema (see video of Randi’s creation here.)
Randi believes that public art has a power, a roaring unfiltered language, an ability to be transformative for a community and for the individuals involved in the creation and process.

She dedicates her time and effort into concept and design, is equally as important as execution. During this process, input from a collection of sources – i.e. community, board members, town halls, environmental groups, historical references – creates the most inclusive, informative and substantial designs.
In addition to public art, Randi’s fine art studio work has a focus on the relationship between humans and nature. She uses heavy texture and natural elements to honor and memorialize trees and flora. It is her hope and goal to specialize in only nature themed murals in the near future.
