For decades, America’s local news media landscape has been decimated by the closure of thousands of small outlets in communities that no longer have a reliable source of information. We’re working to fix that.

I won’t sugar coat it. It’s bad. Really, really bad.
The fact that so many communities, large and small, are no longer served by a reliable news source is a direct threat to America’s Democracy.
Think I’m being hyperbolic?
I’m not the only one saying this. Pen America, a non-profit dedicated to defending free expression in the United States, agrees.
In a recent article about the importance of local news media, they note:
“Local journalists are pivotal in combating disinformation, particularly in the context of regional politics and the upcoming election.”
And check out this report on a study about the dangerous effects of “news deserts,” places where there isn’t a single, reliable, independent news source, on our democracy.
Many Postindustrial Communities, large and small, are similarly affected.
Whether it’s a small rural community or a larger city, democracy is in peril when local news isn’t there to separate dangerous fiction and conspiracy from fact.
It’s our mission at Postindustrial to help fix this national dilemma threatening our democracy.
We’re working with communities throughout our coverage area to identify ways to fill the gaps in local coverage and restore trust in hardworking journalists.
If you come from a community where your local news source is gone, we want to hear from you.
Together, we can find a way to provide reliable coverage you can count on to serve you and your neighbors.
Sounds good?
We look forward to working with you!
