Gov. Andy Beshear sat down with The Daily Show host Jon Stewart and expressed optimism about his state’s future and concern about Trump’s policies and pettiness.

Beshear, a rare Democratic governor in a deep-red state, asserted that he “stands up for all his convictions,” including new jobs, access to healthcare, education, and more.
He also noted that new green industry jobs in the former Kentucky coal town of Henderson were welcomed because the work was well-paying.
“We are a state whose economy is expanding, but that’s through hustle,” said Beshear, while noting that Trump tariffs are hurting his state and others.

When talking politics, Beshear noted that Democrats need to do a better job of explaining what is causing the cost of living to rise.
“We have to make sure that the American people know that Donald Trump is making things cost more,” Beshear said.
