News that a massive data breach has compromised passwords for Apple, Google, Facebook and other major platforms including GitHub and Telegram has startled users, who are now asking what to do to avoid further damage.

Want to know if you’ve been affected?
First, check Have I Been Pwned to see if your email appears, and if it does, change it immediately.
Second, put in place two-factor authentication now, so that you’ll know if someone else has hacked your account.
Third, consider using a password manager to add an extra layer of security to your logins.
The data leaked includes passwords, URLs and usernames at both the personal and platform level. That includes information from more than 30 databases containing 3.5 billion passwords, and is also reportedly affecting VPNs.
Make sure your data is safe.
