A Postindustrial favorite painter talks about her latest work in a historic Pennsylvania town.

I’m proud to share my latest 40-foot-wide x 25-foot-high mural, Unfinished Ballad.
The mural graces the Beyond the Battle Museum in Gettysburg, PA. The museum’s mission is to educate the public about the entire history of the region (not just the American Civil War and the Gettysburg Address)
In my acrylic on polytab mural, I collapsed time to show different eras simultaneously and collapsed geography to depict different sites in one vista.

Muralist and Postindustrial Contributor Sarah Jacobs
I interviewed many people to gather ideas for historical elements to include before designing the mural,l but I also grew up near Gettysburg and always appreciated the region’s natural beauty and rolling hills.
It was a priority for me to show that verdant beauty and depict people of various ages enjoying themselves in that natural, pastoral serenity.
Most figures in the scene represent eras. The only historic individual depicted is local Victorian artist and photographer William Tipton, who photographed these landscapes and over 100,000 individuals, most of whom, like most who were here, were not famous.
