The search continues for suspects involved in the weekend shooting near a bustling street festival in Toledo, Ohio.
The incident left 12 people wounded, causing chaos as festival-goers scrambled for cover in the historic Old West End neighborhood.
The victims, ranging from teenagers to individuals in their 60s, are reported to be in stable condition, WTVG 13 in Toledo reports.
The gunfire erupted near the Old West End Festival, an annual summer event that attracts crowds to the area known for its Victorian homes.
Videos on social media captured the panic as shots rang out, showing people fleeing and medics attending to the injured among the park’s event tents and food trucks.
Authorities have not yet identified any suspects or made arrests.
Toledo Deputy Police Chief Joe Heffernan indicated that at least two individuals exchanged gunfire, suggesting they were likely shooting at each other.
Lucas County Prosecutor Julia Bates promised swift and strong justice, expressing her personal connection to the community.
“This is my home. These are my friends and neighbors. It is not OK,” Bates said in a statement.
Toledo police updated the public on social media, noting that investigators are making progress and following multiple leads, urging attendees to provide any photos or videos that might capture the suspects.
The festival is a cherished two-day celebration in Toledo’s historic district, featuring live music, food vendors, home tours, and shopping.
The rest of the scheduled festivities were canceled.
