We were recently in Morgantown visiting with cannabis farmers who were kind enough to explain the harvesting process and share their love of growing plants that more and more people are coming to appreciate.
Sibling cannabis farmers Mary and Ted Hastings were kind enough to give us a tour of their fifth-generation family farm Joy and Hemp, where they grow CBD and CBG varieties of cannabis that are legal for recreational use in the Mountain State.

[Currently, recreational THC marijuana products are not legal for recreational sale in West Virginia.]
In addition to producing dried flower, they also make oils, body butter, and edibles that are sold locally to a growing cannabis-using customer base.
“They [businesses to whom they sell their wares] love to get local product in, which is really cool,” said Mary. “They really carried us through the COVID times, which is important for any small business.”
We loved spending time with the Hastings, including wonder pup Stella Marie, on their family farm and plan to return in the spring when we can watch the cannabis growing cycle start anew.
