Postindustrial Live: Discussing Cybersecurity

Postindustrial brought a pressing issue to a live event with panel discussions and a keynote by author Justin Daniels

Justin Daniels was the keynote speaker during a daylong event with panel discussions focused on the urgency around cybersecurity education and safeguards for organizations. "Unlike fine wine, infrastructure does not age well," he said.

A9A05943-scaled — “Technology is a little bit like alcohol,” said Justin Daniels, attorney, podcast host, and co-author of a new book. “It’s out there, and we have to decide how much we’re going to use.” Daniels, based in Atlanta, recently released his book “Data Reimagined: Building Trust One Byte at at Time,” which is available on Amazon.

A9A05777-scaled — Daryn Kagan, author and speaker, moderated three panel discussions for Advancing Ambition, which was designed to bring an important issue in the news to a live audience, but also be interactive. Kagan was an anchor for CNN from 1996 to 2004 in CNN’s headquarters in Atlanta. She reported on the Persian Gulf War, the Sept. 11 terror attacks, and presidential elections, among other historic events.

Barry Hensley, who leads SecureWorks' Counter Threat Unit, was among the experts who spoke on Tuesday, Oct. 18 at Advancing Ambition, an event designed to create awareness and discussion about the need for cybersecurity education and safeguards. The Counter Threat Unit identifies and analyzes emerging threats while developing advanced countermeasures to protect clients. The company provides security for thousands of government and private sector organizations. — Col. (ret.) Says Cyrus Walker, principal of Data Defenders in Chicago. “Cybersecurity is a matter of life and death and if there is an attack, there could be a loss of life. We have gotten used to technology running our lives but we don’t think of the day it may not be here. And I do believe that day is coming.”
