Grown Folks’ Fables

Make Believe Association, a new Chicago-based nonprofit podcast production company headed by Jeremy McCarter, has released its inaugural season titled ‘Grown Folks’ Fables’. Each episode is an audioplay based on a traditional folktale that represents a different face of Chicago’s cultural diversity, written and reinterpreted by a local writer. The first episode, Brava, is a feminist reimagining of a Mexican folk story, and was recorded live at the National Museum of Mexican Art. Think “one part live theater, one part TV production, one part social science”, as McCarter describes it.
